tumblr finds.
Just a couple of favs I've found on Tumblr lately. I'm liking the muted colour theme across these images. To go to their original source, click on their thumbnails here on my Tumblr page.
P.S. How gorgeous are Marilyn, Kate, Natasha, Isabeli and Anya?

hello my muse.
Remember Tavi Gevinson? At thirteen, she was once the youngest, hippest fashion blogger on the internet. I never really paid much attention to the hype. When too many people rhapsodise over something, I lose interest immediately. Anyway. It's been two years since she became an online sensation, and guess what, she's back. She's fifteen. And she's cooler than I could have ever imagined!
She still has her blog The Style Rookie, (very The Virgin Suicides-inspired) as well as Rookie magazine, which she describes as a "site for teenage girls." I'll admit that I find her articles relevant, even though I am well over the targeted age group!
Go and have a look at her post on "How to Bitchface" - It may just be the best thing you'll read this year.

sam and cam go H.A.M.
I am an avid MAC fan, but wow... who can say no to a brand that rivals the quality and quantity of MAC products? Their staff weren't intimidating (big plus), in fact, if Sam and I had it our way, we would have happily pitched a tent at their store and camped there until we were done trying out every product! (But we would have been there for days).
I bought a blending shadow brush (8OHP) and a liquid liner brush (30T), as well as a product called Duraline. This magic emulsion comes in a small glass bottle and is oily in texture. You add a tiny drop to loose eyeshadow, and it instantly turns it to liquid form. Mix it in with an eyeliner brush and, VOILA, you have liquid liner!
We also went to Spitfire. I walked away with two pairs of glasses, one being the nerdy ones (pictured above) and the other being a rather feline-y pair of round glasses (also above).
Our last stop was Mr Price, where Sam and I went buck wild. In fact, shares in Mr Price could well have gone up even further since last week. It really is a good time to invest!

La-la-love this headdress from Couverture and the Garbstore! It may be from the children's section, but who cares.

blast from the past denim jacket
Forget denim shirts... I want a good old-fashioned denim jacket! Love how this girl dressed hers with heels. Image from what do i wear.

FYI, i'm gonna do a DIY
I bought this chiffon cropped blouse from Mr Price a few weeks ago, and it has been sitting in my cupboard ever since. Shame. The tag is still intact - it's one of those purchases.
I'm not good at DIY, not at all... But I think its time I start wearing this top, and the only way I will is if I customise it. So here it is, the blank canvas. Once I have worked my magic on this top, I will post a pic. Give me a few days!

would you like a "cherry" with that?
I came across this vegan recipe blog the other day, called Lookbook Cookbook. I can't say I've seen anything like it before. Food and fashion? I like it already.

girl overload
On Sunday my best friends and I got together at my house for a little tea party to celebrate Catrina's birthday. We all share the same love for sweet things, especially ice-cream, so I decided to recreate a miniature version of the Pinkberry frozen yoghurt / Snog frozen yoghurt concept. I used a tub of Woolies "Extremely Creamy" Madagascan Vanilla ice cream as well as their Cranberry and Litchi frozen yoghurt as a "base"... We sprinkled over toppings such as fresh blueberries, fudge, white chocolate KitKat, homemade Turkish Delight (thanks Mom), as well as toffee Chuckles, Milo, and other goodies. I also made some cupcakes and strawberries dipped in white chocolate and cupcake sprinkles.
How any of us survived that sugar onslaught, I don't really know. I was pretty much man-down for the rest of the day though. I took a few pics on my camera but most of them are from my iPhone camera - because sometimes me lazy!
I got a lovely surprise from Stacy too, (she said it was a belated birthday present) in the form of this L'Oreal hair mask and a strawberry/mint flavoured lip gloss from H&M. Stacy is a professional hair stylist for GHD so she is my go-to gal for any hair questions. Perhaps she should do a tutorial on my blog soon :)
Hope you all had a super weekend.

now playing
Things I love about Lana Del Rey:
1. Her voice. Fantastically American.
2. Those pouty lips that vaguely resemble Julia Roberts'.
3. Her music video for "Video Games". I have never seen anything more beautiful. She created her own music video by putting together poor-quality YouTube clips. Magic.
In a recent interview with Complex, she explains:
"...I found and edited all of those clips myself. In the last four weeks, I’ve had to hire copyright specialists to reach out to people to ask for approval for those clips, but I found them ten months ago by searching keywords on YouTube. It’s not like the videos are that good. I’d rather them not be up, but whatever. They’re fucking weird. It’s not like I wanted the videos to look that way; it’s just what I was working with at the time. I’m not sure it’s a perfect representation of what I would have chosen if I’d had more money. [Laughs.]
GO HAVE A LOOK, YOU CAN THANK ME LATER. www.lanadelrey.com

new kids on the block
Some recent additions to my wardrobe.
Tassled ankle boots - Primark.
John Lennon glasses - My younger brother picked these up off the floor at some house party and thought I would like them.
Black lace crop - You could call it vintage... This was a hand-me-down from my gran.
